Jett – 4 months

So our little Jett is now 16 weeks old. Over the last week or two she has starting to slowly lose her puppy coat. We know this process can take a few months even, and it’s not very bad, but it’s different from when we first got her that’s for sure. Now after cuddles in a black top, it gets thrown in the wash! So the process has begun and just so you know.. it’s right when our Feature Article ‘My oodle is shedding’ says that the process will begin! I will watch her and see when it slows down but it’s here with a vengeance at the moment!

We’ve taken her for lots of walks and her walking on a lead is getting better – she still pulls at the lead so we’re excited to have Ian the Dog Trainer coming to visit us soon and help us with this. She can now walk 3-4km without any worries running most of the way, so she’s getting nice and fit!

She loves our Puppy Pouncers and we regularly play fetch with it – she won’t play fetch with any other ball besides this one (and a mini tennis ball) so we’re happy to have something she seems super interested in.

She is not at all interested in swimming! I guess some dogs are and some aren’t, but she, unfortunately, isn’t very keen on it much to our dismay!

She is so lovely to have around – she doesn’t jump up when we get home even though she is super excited to see the kids after school, and when we go out and about to check on things or play outside with the kids she will come when we call her. It is lovely to have a dog who takes pleasure in your company!

She is getting great at commands and can sit and stay until we tell her to ‘come’, and in my office, she will just sit on her bed while here which is lovely company! Her sleeping position seems a bit uncomfortable to me but she moves her blankets around and seems to love lying upside down like this so I just let her be!

She is solely on a grain free dry food diet and is doing great on it. We currently have her on Man’s Best food and it seems to be agreeing with her really well. If we put the food down she eats it as she knows we will take the bowl away until the next food time!

She has been getting little grooms from our grooming team here to get her used to being groomed. She has needed to have her bum clipped and cleaned up a couple of times and face trimmed. She is getting regular washes and brushes and all to help her get used to the feeling of being groomed and understanding it. Even if a puppy doesn’t need a full cut until 6 months it is still a good idea to take him or her in to get them used to the feeling.

If you have any questions about Jett or puppies in general at this or other ages let us know!
